First, the era of RSVPing for events is dead so sayeth the New York Times, read the article here. I found it quite interesting.
Second, I strongly recommend watching Drunk History at YouTube, this has been around for a while but they finally have some new stuff. Go and educate thyself.
Also, I took a vacation to Japan a few weeks ago, if you guys want to see some pictures they are here or on the glorious FB.

I want you to picture this… you are driving down a street in like Seattle, just chilling, and something catches the corner of your eyes… You move your eyes out the side window and for a snapshot you see 4 fucking hipsters playing dice in an alley… that shit is funny right?

I really can’t believe these allegations have not been refuted by Glenn Beck. Why won’t he merely refute these obviously made up charges and tell the world he didn’t murder a young girl in 1990? Read more about these heinous charges here!

Check out this great video, Sarkozy is so awesome. Background on this page, basically the Drudge report posted a picture that made it look like Obama was checking out this girl along with the French President. Video below:
It was the first time researchers had successfully sedated a large whale of any type, according to NOAA. To do so, they had to use two cups worth of tranquilizer and a foot-long needle. Two drops of the concoction would be enough to kill a person, said Jamison Smith, NOAA’s large whale disentanglement coordinator.
I was reading this article at the New York Times and was amazed at the introduction and how something it was…
When the International Criminal Court issued its arrest warrant for Sudan’s president on Wednesday, an 8-year-old boy named Bakit Musa would have clapped — if only he still had hands.
You can read the rest here. Just thought it was a very weird and cliche introduction. Something made me laugh though as if it was from SNL even though it is a terrible terrible situation.

I stumbled upon this really cool post over at Google on Radiohead’s new video for their new CD. They show the video, how they made it using data and so on. This might be old but thought you guys might be interested, was a pretty cool mini page at google about it.
No cameras or lights were used. Instead two technologies were used to capture 3D images: Geometric Informatics and Velodyne LIDAR. Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes. In this video, 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute produced all the exterior scenes.
Lizzie pointed out to me today that the one true Museum is in Kentucky and focused on explaining Creationism to kids. This only confirms what I already thought, money can buy kids souls and I need more money to build my own museum on how I created the earth in late November 2003.
At one point, the Creationist history lesson takes a divisive turn, interrupted with a detour into, literally, “Sin City.”
Broken windows look into broken secular homes, where screens display all-too-common scenarios of Godless teenagers getting pregnant, drinking, smoking marijuana. Sounds like a hell of a party to me, but apparently it’s the work of Satan, and it’s all because of the poison of evolutionary science, which is unsubtly illustrated in a laughably melodramatic scene where the giant wrecking ball of “millions of years” is shown smashing into the side of a church:
Anyway way I highly recommend you read and watch the videos on Demon Baby Blog, he went to the museum and took loads of pictures and movies. Pretty scary trip.
These people are fiercely indoctrinating their children, spawning new generations of fanatics who believe themselves engaged in a culture war with the world at large, and want to discredit science and change our laws to get their way. Being in a culture war with drug use and teen pregnancy is one thing, but when you set your cross hairs on science - that which is the foundation of every aspect of our modern lives, and the key to advancing our civilization and preserving our planet - suddenly religious tolerance has reached its limit.
Just thought I would give a personal update in the spirit of things! I bought a house! No just kidding… still homeless. We will be leaving Cairo July 22nd and heading to New York. Me an Lizzie are going to stay with her sister a week and poke around New York. Going to see the Lion King, Monty Python Sir Spamalot, the MET (which I plan to spend 2 days in), and maybe some crappy modern art museum that will make me puke (in a modern way I swear). Then heading back to Fayetteville around July 1st. I plan on being in Fayetteville through November and not sure after that.
I’m planning on seeing Daniel in July when me and Joel drive that direction for Grub. And I’m planning on visiting Seattle at some point to visit M and Zmurder. Especially Zmurder considering I haven’t seen him in a hella long time and owe him some fooseball games (even if I have to go to the cheese state?). Me and Joel will be in C town around July 28th to 30th for a computer conference if anyone wants to fly in and hang out! Small possibility I’ll be in San Jose and Vegas during the next six months for conferences too.
After November I’m not sure what I will be doing, I’ve been looking at the visas for southeast Asian countries like Hong Kong and Singapore but I will figure that out once I get back to the States. I made a small blog post on Egypt which you can read here and some pictures here. It is a nice play to visit for a few weeks but a hard place to live in when you are so outside normal society. Anyway, hope to see you guys soon!
I would like to propose we set a date to hang out at Daniel’s cabin or Las Vegas even if its just for a long weekend. Joel suggested Vegas and I think that is a solid idea. We can make this happen.
So what dates are good for everyone? Post in the comments so we can figure this out, I’ll update the thread as they come in.
Ben: I’m fine with either location and pretty easy on dates, maybe late summer or fall sometime?
Also, if this happens and it is at Daniel dad’s cabin maybe ahead of time we can order a Foosball table to be delivered? If we split it would be not too bad.
Thoughts? Ideas?
PS. I’m still in Cairo Egypt and will get back to the states in late June..
I’m not sure how many people besides Joel/Boo/Me are watching and loving Battlestar Galactica, but if you aren’t you should be. I just found this picture of the cast posing as Da Vinci’s Last Supper, as if the show didn’t have enough religious overtones….
Boo asked me to post this, its an awesome video talking about how the last West Wing election is very similar to the Obama McCain match up and why that is. Very interesting on how they basically predicted the type of candidates we would see. Or maybe that those are the only types of candidates we see and its a cycle.
Boo:
As a HUGE fan of the West Wing (at least when Aaron Sorkin was writing it) I find this utterly amazing…

I think most of you know but I’m going to be in Cairo Egypt from August 07 through June 08 while Lizzie is studying at the American University. So far it has been great! We landed around August 18th and scrambled to find an apartment we liked, we saw about 6 or 7 the first day and ended up finding one we loved. Unfortunately due to some communication problems what we thought cost 3100 Egyptian pounds was actually 3100 US dollars, it was an amazing 12 foot ceiling view of the nile apartment. Anyway we found another one we liked down the road that was in the right currency and love it. You can see some pictures of it here at my SmugMug setup.
We have an extra room so if anyone wants to visit we will be here all year except for some time during Christmas. It is super cheap to buy food and get around and everyone is incredibly nice! We went to Alexandria this weekend on the Med coast and Lizzie just posted some pictures here.
Hey Zach, Pablo, and other runners, what is your opinion on running and needing to drink water? Do you guys prefer the hydration backpacks, holding water bottles in your hands, or the little holsters on your wast? Looking for some input on what you prefer for long runs.
Personal update…
Lizzie and me are moving to Hawaii in a few weeks for the summer. We already found a small place to stay at on the Kona side of the big island. Everyone is welcome to visit and crash at our apartment. Going to be there until late July and then going to Chicago for some work stuff for a week. And then moving to Egypt in August with Lizzie. She is studying at AUC for a year hopefully, still waiting to make sure she got in but I’m sure she did.
are those cheerleaders from FHS as in Fayetteville High School? Its one of the many blogs I read and noticed on the RSS they said FHS. Anyone? I think the colors are right but i’m color blind so wanted someone to verify.
From his location in Waco Texas Bush said the following on hearing Saddam had been sentenced to death…
President Bush says Saddam Hussein’s trial was “a major achievement for Iraq’s young democracy.”
Bush called the verdict “a milestone in the Iraqi people’s efforts to replace the rule of a tyrant with the rule of law.”
The president noted that Saddam has a right to appeal his sentence — and “will continue to receive the due process and legal rights that he denied to the Iraqi people.”
Does anyone find it weird to praise someone being killed as an achievement for a democracy? Oh compassionate conservatism, how little I understand you…
